FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly am I buying?
A limited, hand-numbered fine-art edition of a work from the public domain, printed to museum standard on archival material, and issued with a signed certificate of authenticity. Each work is produced in a finite edition — once the run is complete, it is never extended.
Are these original paintings?
No — and we never present them as such. These are museum-grade editions of works whose originals hang in institutions like the Mauritshuis, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the National Gallery of Art. What you are buying is not the original: it is a considered selection, produced to archival standard, in a numbered and documented edition.
Why buy from Maison Leonardo if these works are in the public domain?
The public domain is open to everyone — but a curated selection, museum-grade production, archival materials, and a numbered edition with documentation are not. Anyone can download an image. Few can deliver a piece worth living with for generations. The selection is the product.
What sizes are available?
Each work is offered in up to three editioned formats: Petit (16 inches), Salon (24 inches), and Grand (34 inches) — measured on the longest side, always in the work's original proportions. Not every work is available in every format: sizes are limited by what the source resolution supports at museum quality. We never print a work larger than its source allows.
Do the pieces come framed?
Yes, if you wish. Each piece can be ordered ready to hang, framed to the house standard — a fine black floating frame for paintings, or an archival mat with black frame for works on paper. You may also order any piece unframed, to frame to your own specification.
What materials do you use?
Museum-grade archival materials throughout: giclée printing with pigment inks, designed to gallery and museum longevity standards. Your piece is made to hold its color and detail for generations.
How long does production and delivery take?
Every piece is made to order — there is no inventory. Estimated production and delivery times are shown at checkout. All pieces ship within the United States, carefully packed for fine art.
Do you work with interior designers?
It is the heart of what we do. We work with designers on individual pieces, multi-piece projects, and full wall curation. For trade pricing and project inquiries, write to curator@maisonleonardo.com.
Can you help me choose a piece for a specific room or project?
Yes. Tell us about the space — the light, the palette, the mood you are after — and the house will propose a selection. Write to curator@maisonleonardo.com.
What is your return policy?
Each piece is produced on demand, specifically for you. If your piece arrives damaged, we will replace it at no cost — write to us with photographs within 7 days of delivery. For details, see our full policies.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship within the United States.
